I had a random idea last week: to start a new series on my blog that shows all of the “candid” pics I take when I’m out at the weekend. Tbh I don’t know how I haven’t thought of this before! I put “candid” in quotations because I do edit them slightly – brighten them up and add my favourite ‘Dusty’ (from the Afterlight app) filters. I love that aesthetic.

The reason I love this idea is ’cause I’m super fussy with what I put on my Instagram feed. I can spend hours taking pictures that never get posted, and its a shame cause some of them are really pretty, they just don’t have the vibe I go for on my feed. My blog is the perfect place for the photos that don’t fit!

On weekdays I don’t tend to do that much, but on weekends I explore London A LOT. I go for drinks, try new vegan restaurants, explore the city, and meet friends, especially when the weather is SO nice. I always have my camera with me too.

How I take my pictures

Phil takes pictures of me for my Instagram feed. I prefer my Insta pics to be taken on my iPhone 7 Plus for two reasons. One, the algorithm supposedly favours pictures taken on a smartphone, and two, it’s just easier! My 7 Plus is perfect because the camera is actually really good, so if I want to post them on my blog I can. It makes it easier to take the odd snap without setting my camera up too, I use manual mode ’cause I’m very specific and I like to mess about with the settings for the lighting.

Pictures of anything else are taken on my Canon 700D. My 700D is perfect for my current skill level, I’m still learning!

So last Saturday in London was PACKED. It was the Pride Parade so everyone was looking wonderfully colourful, and it was the world cup match for England vs. Sweden – the vibe was happy yet very tense! Oh, and the tubes were  h u u u m i d d d d d.

I got up earlier than I usually do on a Saturday cause we had a booking at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium for tea with cats. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t too good so I didn’t manage to take any pictures. Plus there was far too many people IMO. Afterwards we headed to our favourite place in London, Covent Garden – the home of my favourite Charlotte Tilbury store. After popping into CT to browse all the products I can’t afford (the Mini Miracle Eye Wand is next on my list) we went to The Real Greek. Their vegan menu is so good! I love to eat small plates and nibbles and its really fresh which is right up my street! I defo recommend if you want to try some fresh summery food.

Then we wandered Covent Garden to find a pub that had at least a little bit of air conditioning so we could watch the world cup, and we managed to!

I hope you like the pictures. I’d love to hear what you got up to last weekend too! Follow me on Instagram for more candid pics.
