When I first moved (wow, almost two years ago now!) I set myself the goal of trying all possible vegan restaurants I could find in London. Looking back this was a very naive goal to set because I had absolutely no idea how massive veganism was down here compared to the North East. There are literally 100s of restaurants to try and the number is only getting bigger and bigger as the months go by. This doesn’t mean I haven’t gave it a good go however – here’s my list of my favourite London vegan spots you absolutely must try in 2019.
1. Purezza, Camden
If you want a good pizza, Purezza is the answer. When I changed my diet I soon realised that dairy-free cheese wasn’t for me, but I hated having a plain pizza. That was until I tried Purezza in Camden. Their marinara pizza is amazing and they add lashings of garlic on top which is ideal. I always get the garlic bread starter and a pot of pesto too. Many people rave about their other pizzas and desserts, especially if you like fake meat and vegan cheese, so try them if they take your fancy.
2. ByChloe, Covent Garden
One of my favourite places to go when I’m craving some delicious not-at-all-healthy food. If you have a craving for fast food then ByChloe is the place to be. There’s a huge selection of dishes including breakfasts, burgers, salads and desserts ideal for when you have that craving. It’s great because you can get food to go or sit in with friends and enjoy the instagrammable decor and cosy chairs. Their cookies and sweet treats are perfect also.
3. Young Vegans, Camden
More of a little cute cafe instead of a large restaurant, Young Vegans is located in Camden so it’s the ideal spot to go to before a night out. Camden is probs one of my favourite places in London, especially if you’re going for food and drinks. I went there a couple of weeks ago before I went out for a friends birthday and their sweet potato pie was the ultimate winter comfort food. I’d never had a proper savoury pie before, but Young Vegans did not disappoint. Don’t forget to grab a mud pie for dessert either – I actually took mine to the club and ate it on the tube home cause I’m classy!
4. Mildreds, Kings Cross
OK, I lied, this restaurant isn’t fully vegan but it definitely deserves a place on the list. It’s a vegetarian restaurant with many vegan options. There are four Mildreds restaurants around London including Kings Cross, Soho, Dalston and Camden, all serving superb vegan dishes ideal if you love curry, fake meat, burgers (the black bean one is divine!), desserts and even cocktails. It’s a great place to go if you’re introducing someone to vegan and vegetarian food.
5. Wulf and Lamb, Sloane Square
So I had to save the best until last. Wulf and Lamb is probably my favourite restaurant ever. It’s a tad more expensive than those previously mentioned but their food and menu is completely worth the money I promise. I love, love, love cake and I could actually eat their red velvet forever. I always get the spicy veg burger with a side of chargrilled broccoli or padron peppers everytime I go. Wulf and Lamb is another great place to take someone who doesn’t usually eat vegan, as they don’t really “shout about it” if you know what I mean – it’s more laid back and chilled. Oh, and dogs are allowed!
